Rutland Water reserve occupies a narrow strip of land running for 9 miles around the western end of Rutland Water and covering a total of 600 acres and is legendary in English stillwater Trout fly fishing circles. Situated around 30 miles east of Leicester / Coventry and around 70 miles north of central London, the fly fishing on these lakes is mainly for hard fighting Rainbow Trout although large Brown Trout, Pike and Zander can be caught by those who target them.

A wide range of permit options is available and fishing boats can be hired from their fishing lodges in Rutland. Trout fishing is available from March to 31 December and coarse fishing is available all year round at many of our coarse fisheries.
