Birmingham NEC
11th – 14th March 2010
The world's largest dog show is a fantastic celebration of the best dogs from all
over the world and features nearly 28,000 dogs competing for the title of Crufts
Best In Show. The first Crufts show under the Crufts name was held in the Royal
Agricultural Hall in Islington in 1891. Nowadays the shows are ran by the Kennel
Club and 2010 will be the 20th year that the show is held at the NEC.
There is plenty to see at Crufts – the discover dogs area showcases over 200 pedigree
breeds for you to meet, there is the UK's largest dog training programme, the Good
Citizen Dog Scheme and over 400 trade stands with special show offers and exciting
new products. Crufts 2010 is spread out over four days:
Day 1 – 11th March: Working and Pastoral
Day 2 - 12th March: Terrier and Hound
Day 3 - 13th March: Toy and Utility
Day 4 - 14th March: Gundog
The NEC exhibition hall is divided into different areas for the event. The Obedience
Ring is used exclusively for obedience competitions including the very exciting
Obedience World Cup, where challengers from all over the world compete. In the 'GCDS'
Ring you can visit their stand and watch fantastic displays in the ring with the
aim of helping you to learn more about the joys of responsible dog ownership.
The younger element of Crufts is catered for in the YKC Ring. The Young Kennel Club
(YKC) is an organisation for 6-24 years old and has a complete programme for members
to compete at the highest level. The Dog Activities Ring is aimed at giving owners
a wealth of information being active with their dogs and learn how to unleash your
dog's potential. From Working Trials, Agility, Flyball and lots more, the Kennel
Club can tell you how to get started or how to become more involved.
Enjoy the touching stories through the 'Friends for Life' competition that celebrate
'dog heroes' that the Kennel Club supports, and meet and thank many of these unsung
heroes yourself. These are people who help abandoned or unwanted dogs, are part
of Breed Rescue centres, and find homes for these dogs.
Meet the 2009 champion who is not just a champion of the show ring but a much loved
family pet. There is so much to see and do at Cufts, so for the dog-lover, there's
no better place to experience and learn about the wonderful world of dogs.
Please note that unfortunately NO DOGS other than those that have been invited by
the Kennel Club and Registered Assistance Dogs are permitted into the show.
