Fort Paull is located just outside of the village Paull in
East Yorkshire and set within 10 acre grounds with magnificent views over the Humber
estuary. This Napoleonic fortress has over 500 years of history within its walls
for you to discover, and it was completed in 1542 as a defense for the Humber Ports.
The Fort and its site have changed a number of times since it was originally built
in 1542 - the fourth and final fort was built in 1862 and is what stands today.
One of the Forts most impressive exhibits is the World's only surviving Blackburn
Beverley Aircraft, a heavy-lift transport aircraft which served with the Royal Air
Force between 1956 and 1967. No visit to Fort Paull is complete without a sight
of this.
There is wide variety of amenities on site at Fort Paull. There are two eating establishments
for your use. Dukes of York Bar offers various Hot and Cold meals and is open throughout
the day, whilst Berliner Tea Rooms provides customers with a wide variety of snacks
and drinks from its themed menu. Incorporated into the Tea Rooms is the restaurant
car from the Berliner train which used to ferry people from West Germany to West
Berlin during the Cold War.
On Sundays throughout the summer, budding soldiers can purchase various military
clothing and souvenirs from the Military Clothing store near the Fortress Vaults.
Once dressed as a soldier you can even test your rifle aim at the rifle range! For
a souvenir or gift, located at the Fort entrance/exit is the Gift Shop with a fantastic
array of toys, souvenirs and gifts including miniatures historical figures, replica
coins and medals and the specially commissioned Blackburn Beverley Keying. Fort
Paull is It is within easy reach of the city of Kingston Upon Hull and only 5 minutes
from the North Sea Ferry Terminal. If you choose to drive, Fort Paull has two large
car parks on site. There are toilets and baby changing facilities.
